We take pride in all our projects and strive to deliver the best in quality, innovation, cost-effectiveness and timely delivery. However, when our projects earn special recognition from industry peers and associations, we are especially honored.

MidMountain Contractors is proud to have received the following awards for some of our recent project work.

2003 Public Works Project of the Year—Awarded by the American Public Works Association for the construction of the South 277th Street Corridor project.

This complicated, multi-phase project created a new east-west thoroughfare for the Kent and Auburn communities. Construction consisted of the elevation and expansion of South 277th to a five-lane road, new pile supported bridges over railroad tracks, two 72" sewer tunnels under the railroad tracks, a pile supported 54" sanitary sewer, plus installation of a new water main, storm sewer and detention pond. Although this project was immensely challenging and politically-charged, it was ultimately successful.

Best of 2003 Award of Excellence: Road/Transportation—Awarded by Northwest Construction/McGraw Hill Construction for the West Lake Union Improvements project for the City of Seattle.

As part of Seattle Mayor Greg Nickel’s vision to attract biotech industry to the South Lake Union neighborhood, this project transformed an unorganized and unpaved parking site along the lake’s west shore into an attractive more accessible area that improves parking and highlights public access to the water. The project consisted of a new drainage system, pedestrian pathway, an electrical duct bank and vaults for Seattle City Light’s underground feeder system, construction of striped parking stalls, arterial roadway reconstruction and resurfacing and landscaping.

Best of 2003 Award of Excellence: Renovation/Restoration—Awarded by Northwest Construction/McGraw Hill Construction for the Pioneer Square Historical Areaway Reconstruction project for the City of Seattle.

Since the rebuilding of the historic Pioneer Square in the late 1800’s, the iron beams and brick arches that supported the sidewalks over the underground rooms and areaways had succumbed to time and Mother Nature. MMC’s reconstruction challenge was to stabilize the areaways while ensuring that the historic district’s character remained unchanged. The project included replacing the corroded iron beams with exact replica steel beams and building wood form arches to support the sidewalk.

Excellence in Concrete Award—Awarded by Washington Aggregates and Concrete Association in 2002 for the construction of the S.E. Newport Way project for the City of Bellevue.

MMC’s work included the construction of 1,400 lineal feet of retaining wall with fish and shell motifs cast into the design, the widening of the road to three lanes and the construction of a bike lane, sidewalks and planting strips. This unique project was among the first of its kind for the City of Bellevue utilizing art as part of a road project.
